| HERMANUS - 4 DAY TRAIL: |
DAY 1. We ride from Hermanus to Die Kelders across the Plaat (18 km. beach), where we stay overnight.
This ride is especially delightful during whale season, (June to November) the pleasure of being able to watch the whales as we ride along the beach, they are known on occasion to stop at the cove where we stay overnight.
DAY 2. We begin the mountain leg of our trail winding through the dune Fynbos up into the hills into an area of Cape Sandstone called Witassfoolskrans and down the other side into Flower Valley and our overnight stop at Dei Uilens, a charming old farmhouse which has been turned into a guesthouse. It perches on the edge of a dam and the deck fronting the house is a great place to relax on the second day after a swim in the dam. This area a major source for the dried flowers, which are exported all over the world. This ecosystem is unique to the eastern Cape and is not found anywhere else in the world.
DAY 3. We return to Die Kelders via a different rout and stay there again overnight.
DAY 4. After breakfast we view the Bushman caves before riding back to Hermanus.
